MISSION Statement

Thornhill Child Care Society is a non-profit society that exists to provide a secure, caring, quality learning environment for infants through to school age children. Our focus is to provide developmentally appropriate programs that are accessible to all families.

VISION Statement

TCCS will be a leader in the field of child care and early learning through professional development, partnerships and advocacy. We will develop and deliver flexible service options that respond to family and community needs. We will continue our commitment to being an environment where our children and families can be nurtured.

Board of Directors

Thornhill Child Care Society is governed by volunteer parents who make the decisions regarding the direction of the Society and its programs.

Being a Board Member involves a few hours of time once a month and no previous board member experience is required. All that is required is a desire to ensure that the children continue to receive the best possible care. Board Members are generally elected at the Annual General Meeting held in June of each year, but may join at any time.

Board Member Position Descriptions

Chairperson:  Responsible for chairing meetings, speaking on behalf of the Society, signing authority for the finances and supporting other committees as well as being a liaison between staff and the Board of Directors.

Vice-Chairperson:  Fills in for the Chairperson when they are absent from a meeting or unavailable. Provides support to various committees. May become the next President.

Treasurer:  Responsible for chairing the finance committee, reviewing the financial transactions on a monthly basis, is a signing authority for accounts, reports to the Board on the financial situation and makes recommendations to the Board in the financial area.

Secretary:  Responsible for taking minutes at monthly meetings. Can provide support to other committees as need and time are identified.

Director:  Participates in monthly meetings, willing to sit on at least one committee and participate in annual plans, workshops, personnel issues, policy and procedures development and assist where necessary.
