Thornhill Child Care - Haysboro Center is an inclusive center that supports children aged 2.5 - 6 years of age. Our programs offer an Emergent Curriculum where by educators create an environment through observations, reflective practice and facilitating play to promote children’s emotional, social, cognitive, spiritual and creative development.
Use of an Emergent curriculum creates an environment that is grounded in child directed exploration. This sets a strong foundation for children's life long learning and development. The philosophy encourages children to be active participants in their environment while our educators create responsive classrooms and experiences.
Our inclusive child care center accesses the services of the Society's own contracted multi-disciplinary team. This team includes a Director of Early Childhood Services, a Speech/Language Pathologist, an Occupational Therapist and a Child Psychologist. This team provides specialized services on-site and inclusively in classrooms by accessing Alberta Education Funding.
The centre also offers a Kindergarten program. The Kindergarten program is funded through Alberta Education and is taught by an Alberta Certified Teacher, meeting the Alberta Education Curriculum requirements. Class sizes are capped at 20 children and include an experienced Educational Assistant to provide support to the students.
As Thornhill Child Care - Haysboro center is located within a school, we have frequent access to their gymnasium. This is fantastic during those cold winter days for children to burn off some of their excess energy.
